A letter to the participants: Thank you all for your
help. The Unity for Beauty Day
was an unqualified success and has hopefully ushered in a new vitality and
sense of unity to our little town. Everyone involved deserves enormous
credit! Nearly 70 people—residents, property owners and business
owners—worked together to plant and clean up, many working for nearly the
entire day! Many others worked behind
the scenes, including a couple that drove to every Wal-Mart in Volunteers were joined by
Mayor Dell Tush and almost all of the commissioners, two former Mayors
(Frederick and Wright), several former commissioners, the town maintenance
crew, and the police department. It was quite a sight to see all these
volunteers in red shirts working so hard and so cheerfully throughout
town. Many people asked if this
could be an annual event. The answer is yes. We plan to plant bulbs,
pansies and mums in fall and are looking into a summer litter patrol. About 75 people attended
Happy Hour at the Starboard and liked it so much that we are looking into a
Happy Hour on a monthly basis at revolving locations in town. These will most
likely be held on the same weekend as Town Council meetings. More to come
on that... Thanks again to everyone. This was a terrific
joint effort and gives us much to build on. Summer Volunteers Needed: Now that we’ve planted everything, it will need to
be watered, weeded, and maintained in general. The town maintenance crew will
water during the week but we need help on weekends. If you’re able to help with this or would be
willing to help in planning for our fall event, please contact us at
610 322 8527 or at hanson@team-doctor.com. If you’re missing equipment, also please let us know and we will get your lost racks, shovels, etc back to you. |
