Major Activities of the Civic League

Upon occasion the League conducts or sponsors activities involving the town. This is a report of those activities from 2007.

October 13thMany new trees planted throughout town were watered, fertilized and mulched and a new flower bed of daylilies was planted at the Life Saving Station .Twenty five people worked together to plant and clean up.
July 4thThe Civic League, joined by Steve Huse and Paul Bauer, was pleased to join in hosting a special lunch for the Dewey Beach Lifeguards on July 4 to express our appreciation to the guard corps for the great job they are doing for our town.  Not only have the guards had a good season, despite large crowds so far this year, but they have hosted a number of youth-oriented beach events and added special equipment, such as tether-ball courts and volleyball nets, to various areas along the beach with the help of private donations from several sources.  The League was pleased to express its members' appreciation to the guards through a catered picnic lunch at the Lifesaving Station attended by several commissioners and former guards, as well as Civic League President David Main.
June 9thLeague sponsored Happy Hour at the Dewey beach Club for all members, business people and property owners.
May 12thThe league managed the Town Beautification Day held Saturday, May 12th 2007 by planning, collecting donations, acquiring materials, assigning volunteers and assuring all the work was done effectively. It was a rousing success!
