League President Named 2007 Volunteer of the Year
Recognizing
the contributions of the Dewey Beach Civic League to the community over
the past year, Civic League President David Main was named "Volunteer
of the Year" by the Mayor and Town Council in an award presented at the
Rehoboth Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce Annual Dinner on Thursday,
January 17 in Rehoboth Beach. The Mayor noted that the mission of
the Civic League is solely to do good things for the town and the
community, and praised the League's leadership in working toward that
goal in many effective ways. Main noted that Dewey Beach is full
of very dedicated volunteers who have put substantial time and effort
into improving the town, noting Town Beautification Chair and
Commissioner Diane Hanson, in particular. Volunteer Webmaster
Dick Cleaveland, membership chairman and Treasurer Bob Duncan, and
other members of the Board and League committees also deserve great
credit he said. At the dinner, a variety of other awards and
recognitions were presented, including business of the year (The
Cultured Pearl), lifeguard of the year, and several other service
awards and scholarships. |
